Job summary

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 is seeking an In-School Detention Paraprofessional at Carson Middle School to supervise ISD/ISS students and maintain a safe, structured learning environment. You will support completion of assignments and communicate student progress with teachers and staff.

The role involves building supervision and classroom support as needed, with an 187‑day, 7.5‑hour workday schedule; a willingness to work with diverse student needs is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree or 48 college hours or ACT WK certified.
• First Aid/CPR training required or obtainable.

Preferred Minimum Qualifications:

Job Goals:

The In-School Detention (ISD) Paraprofessional supervises students assigned to In-School Detention/In-School Suspension (ISS) and maintains a safe, structured, and productive learning environment. The paraprofessional monitors student behavior, supports completion of assigned academic work, facilitates student reflection and accountability, and communicates with teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress. The position also provides building supervision duties and classroom support as assigned to meet school needs.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Supervise students assigned to ISD/ISS and maintain a structured learning environment.
2. Monitor, reinforce, and support appropriate student behavior and adherence to school expectations.
3. Facilitate student reflections activities, restorative practices, and behavior accountability processes as directed.
4. Coordinate, distribute and monitor completion of assignments provided by classroom teachers
5. Provide academic support while encouraging student engagement and productivity
6. Communicate directly with students and professional staff in a courteous and confidential manner and clearly communicate observations, information, and data regarding students to professional staff objectively and in a timely manner.
7. Provide additional supports in classrooms, as needed.
8. Monitor and/or supervise students in a variety of settings around the building.
9. Perform assigned supervision duties throughout the day.
10. Demonstrate flexibility when specific tasks of job are adjusted to meet building or district-level needs
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary:

Paraeducators are on the Classified Salary Schedule.
- FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings.
- Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range.
