Job summary

Job description

Thompson Industrial is looking for Hydroblaster / Field Technicians. This Technician will be responsible for the safe and proper execution of work across all service lines at customer locations. They will lead daily operations of the service line crew, ensuring the proper operation of equipment, driving operational efficiencies, and maintaining accurate documentation. The Technician will enforce company policies and uphold strong customer relations.

This team member is responsible for two or more crews by planning, leading, organizing, and coordinating daily operations. They must ensure compliance with safety policies, operational efficiency, and documentation standards at each job site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as safety representative responsible for safety policies & procedures of both the company and the customer.
  • Operate manual and automated hydro‑blasting equipment, including ultra‑high‑pressure pumps, specialized hydro‑blasting, and chemical cleaning equipment.
  • Operate vacuum trucks and cutting equipment used on the job.
  • Examine surface cleaning to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on company equipment used on the job.
  • When in a supervisory capacity, interface with customer representatives regarding job setup, scope, and performance. Report to the branch manager or designee and implement procedures to achieve specified results.
Physical Demands:
  • Read and distinguish signs and emergency signals.
  • Execute 180‑degree cervical motion to allow full head and neck movement.
  • Extend arms above head, frequently bend at waist, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, and crawl.
  • Be able to work wet from head to toe for an unlimited time.
  • Climb ladders and work from scaffolding or platforms up to 200 ft.
  • Operate in confined spaces of at least 5 ft diameter.
  • Maintain a 50‑lb load on a straight 66" pipe for at least 1 hour.
  • Work up to 16 hours per shift and be physically capable of using negative‑pressure and air‑supplied respirators.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment including Nomex coveralls, a back belt, slickers, rubber boots, a fresh‑air breathing mask, an escape pack, and a hard hat.
  • Work under extreme climate conditions (e.g., heat index > 95°F, 98% humidity, sub‑zero temperatures) relative to location.
  • Be exposed to dust, fumes, exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids; a respirator will be provided when required.
  • Noise levels exceed 85 dBA (hearing protection is provided and required).
  • Lift and maintain a minimum of 40 lbs.

  • Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training, on‑the‑job training, and essential experience from related jobs.
  • English language proficiency sufficient to understand safety training and respond to instructions in emergency situations.
  • Valid driver's license and adherence to the company's driving policy when operating company vehicles.
  • Knowledge of emergency equipment operation, such as fire extinguishers.
  • Provide Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

Pay Range: $12.98 - $25.96 hourly.
