Job summary

Huntington National Bank is seeking a back-end developer with a cloud engineering background to join our analytics team. You will design, build, and operate API-enabled Java applications in a modern cloud environment.

Role involves working with Kubernetes, Spring Framework (Boot and Batch), and data platforms such as Oracle and Snowflake. Expect Agile collaboration, production support, and opportunities to learn new AI technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 7+ years of Java development and API-enabled, event-driven architecture.
• SQL queries and stored procedures; experience with Oracle and Snowflake.
• 2+ years in production support or infra engineering.
• DevSecOps familiarity; Kubernetes or container-based deployments.
• Learning mindset; openness to new tech and AI.
• Cloud architect/engineer/developer certifications preferred.
• Experience on product teams and agile practices.

Our team directly supports analytics activation for the bank. Applications we support continue to significantly contribute to the bank's top line. We use cloud native application practices and modern data approaches to deliver performant software used by all channels.

We are looking for a strong back‑end developer with a cloud engineering background or certifications and a keen interest in learning new technologies/AI to join our team.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 7+ years of development experience using Java, building API‑enabled apps and event‑driven architecture.
• Ability to write SQL queries and stored procedures, knowledge of using databases including Oracle and Snowflake.
• 2+ years of production support, infrastructure engineering or administration experience.
• Experience with or good working knowledge of DevSecOps, Kubernetes or other container‑based technologies including deployment pipelines.
• Learning mindset with openness to learn new technologies, build things and experiment.
• Certifications like cloud architect/engineer/developer are strongly preferred.
• Experience working on product teams, awareness of agile practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and develop systems based upon user specifications.
• Provide technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems.
• Possess an in-depth knowledge of and work with the technical tools available for systems development and support.
• Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of technical industry trends, particularly as they apply to Huntington.
• Assist with identifying training needs or with training of less experienced staff.
• Serve as project leader for specific projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with marketing applications or integration background.
• Previous architecture or tech lead experience.
• Deep knowledge of microservices patterns, Spring framework including Spring Boot and batch.
• Ability to balance both development and support roles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, focus on customer service, and ability to work well with other IT, vendor, and business groups.

Exempt Status

Yes – not eligible for overtime pay.

Workplace Type

Office. Certain positions may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement, combining in‑office and work‑from‑home options.

Compensation Range

$70,000.00 – $140,000.00 USD annual. The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
