Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an IS&T Storage Engineer, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As an IS&T Storage Engineer, you will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support, and maintenance of Data Storage Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate may be required to occasionally work outside normal business hours (e.g., application upgrades).

Job Summary

BNH is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at AEDC, Arnold AFB, TN. AEDC operates numerous advanced test facilities across six states, supporting developmental testing and evaluation for the nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight testing. Our mission requires a highly qualified team from multiple disciplines to achieve our objectives.

Job Duties

1. Design, implement, and manage complex storage solutions using NetApp, SpectraLogic, Versity ScoutAM, VMware, RedHat, OpenShift, HPE DMF, and related technologies.
2. Configure and maintain SAN infrastructure for performance and reliability.
3. Manage LTO tape libraries for deep storage, backup, and archival purposes.
4. Deploy and maintain storage solutions involving Block, File, Object, and Tape IO based on requirements.
5. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve storage issues to ensure high availability and integrity.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration of storage solutions with other IT components.
7. Administer Red Hat Linux servers and OpenShift environments to support storage system security and stability.
8. Maintain detailed documentation of storage configurations, processes, and procedures.
9. Stay current with industry trends and advise leadership on technology evolution and refresh strategies.
10. Work with the ISSM to ensure compliance with information assurance regulations and best practices.
11. Ensure cybersecurity requirements are documented, maintained, and compliant for Air Force IT networks.
12. Wear PPE as required by supervisory direction and company policy.
13. Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Engineering, Science, or Information Systems, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to AEDC LAN.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in centralized IT storage management and administration of RedHat Linux and Windows OS.
• Knowledge of storage architectures involving Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, SAN solutions, Tape Technologies, and Virtualization.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Security best practices and design principles.
• Performance tuning and capacity planning experience.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Willingness to obtain DoD8140 certifications within 6 months of hire.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., NetApp, VMware, Red Hat, Microsoft).
• Experience with Hierarchical Storage Management solutions like HPE DMF and Versity ScoutAM.
• Scripting and automation skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Cybersecurity experience for DoD networks.
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning skills.
• Ability to mentor junior staff.
• Active DoD security clearance preferred.
