Posted 19 May 2025 Closing date 10 Jun 2025

Who We Are

Mercy Ships is a global faith-based charity that uses hospital ships to bring life-changing surgeries and transformational medical training to people in some of the most challenging contexts along the African coast. For over 40 years, Mercy Ships has been delivering lasting hope and healing through safe surgical care, while working alongside partners and stakeholders to strengthen local healthcare systems in more than 55 countries. Since the inception of this dream by founders Don and Deyon Stephens in 1978, Mercy Ships has served more than 2.7 million direct beneficiaries without regard for race, gender, or religion.

The Opportunity

Do you love solving complex problems with technology and leading teams toward meaningful impact? Mercy Ships is looking for an experienced IS Product Manager to help drive innovation and manage digital products that support our mission of bringing hope and healing through hospital ships.

As part of our dynamic Information Services (IS) team, you’ll bridge technical know-how with user empathy to deliver systems that empower medical volunteers, operational teams, and global partners. This is more than a tech role—it’s a chance to be part of a global faith-driven mission.

Employment eligibility for this position requires authorization to work in the U.S.

How You’ll Contribute

Product Leadership

  • Support the Senior Product Manager with your technical expertise, business empathy, and Agile mindset.
  • Own and advocate for digital products across Mercy Ships—from idea to execution to improvement.
  • Champion creative and effective uses of your product(s), aligning with our enterprise architecture and mission needs.
  • Maintain and evolve the product roadmap, ensuring it supports strategic goals and value delivery.
  • Write clear policies, processes, and documentation for your product(s).
  • Monitor releases, assign changes, and ensure release management best practices are followed.
  • Escalate product issues or risks as needed and keep stakeholders informed.

Team & Project Management

  • Lead a cross-functional squad that enhances and supports your product(s).
  • Prioritize the team’s backlog based on business value—strategic goals, project needs, and maintenance.
  • Plan and run sprints, managing both internal and external resources.
  • Collaborate with project managers and resource leads to align timelines and expectations.

Servant Leadership

  • Use strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and support your team.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, living out Mercy Ships’ core values in all interactions.
  • Invest in the growth of team members and maintain strong working relationships across departments.
  • Foster a healthy team culture using Crucial Conversations principles and servant leadership.

Performance & Innovation

  • Look for new opportunities to improve products, systems, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive year-over-year improvements in process, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain a holistic view of the product lifecycle and user experience.

As the Ideal Candidate

  • You align with the mission, vision, and values of Mercy Ships.
  • You take ownership, act with initiative, and hold yourself accountable.
  • You’re collaborative, curious, and committed to servant leadership.
  • You thrive in fast-paced, intercultural, mission-driven environments.

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in product or program management, preferably in enterprise or nonprofit settings.
  • Expertise with Salesforce and Agile experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, set priorities, and manage resources.
  • Deep understanding of Agile principles and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve, anticipate trends, and drive innovation.
