Job summary

ENFRA is seeking an IS Mechanical Designer I in Metairie, LA to design mechanical systems and assemblies using engineering principles. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers and contractors to develop high-level concepts and produce drawings, diagrams, and schedule details for multiple projects.

You will conduct field surveys, contribute to the design process, and deliver concepts on time while working under supervision.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 1–2 years' experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
• Strong technical skills.
• Effective oral and written communications skills.
• Vision and Creativity.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Planning skills.
• Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
• Detail‑oriented and able to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high‑level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.
• Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.
• Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
• Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.
• Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
• Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.
• Performs work under direct supervision.
• Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher‑level staff.
• Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Education

Associate degree in HVAC/Building Systems

1–2 years' experience with building construction (mechanical/electrical/plumbing/controls)

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
• Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience - Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium
• HVAC Design and Commissioning experience - Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam
• Higher Education and Healthcare design experience

Travel Requirements

• 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
