The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division is seeking a Counselor Aide for Harbor Light/IRU. This role provides non-clinical client support, assists with records, and helps maintain an orderly unit.
It requires readiness to supervise residents at night, on weekends, and holidays, with a focus on safety and communication. Responsibilities include helping with written/oral communications, incident reporting, and coordinating activities while supporting the unit under the Intensive
To provide each client with positive, professional and quality service; always promoting respect dignity and fairness to each client, while making appropriate referrals which will assist clients in reaching their maximum level of independence.
The backgrounds of the clients served by The Harbor Light Program will manifest a variety of inappropriate behaviors. When this occurs, employees are to respond within the context of the treatment environment of the site. Employee conduct (actions, dress, etc.) and interactions (conversations, written communications, etc.) with clients must also be within the treatment environment of the facility.
Counselor Aide support will be provided for IRU in order to ensure that the functions of this position are effectively achieved, and the unit is kept orderly at all times. This includes client management, assistance with written and oral communication pertaining to client records and assisting clients with non-clinical needs.
This position reports to the Unit Coordinator.
