Irrigation Technician - Landscape (Maintenance)

Position Summary

Responsible for the production of assigned irrigation repairs or incidental work as directed by the Irrigation Manager, Account Manager, or Field Supervisor. This is a hands-on position and includes the responsibility of assisting in the work and setting a positive example in behavior, attitude, and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• The Irrigation Specialist is responsible for producing irrigation repairs and other incidental irrigation and water management work.
• Accurately diagnose irrigation equipment problems.
• Skillfully excavate and know where to dig.
• Communicate effectively using industry terms.
• Follow diagnostic instructions from senior specialists.
• Program controllers such as Irritrol MC series, MC+A, MC+B, Dial A/B, Rainmaster Centar, and Evolution series.
• Have basic knowledge of irrigation design, pipe classes, and valve identification (e.g., Hardie 100, Series 700, Weathermatic plastic series, Rainbird DV series).
• Identify heads including Hunter PGP, PGH, I series, Toro 570, Rainbird 1800 series.
• Identify and utilize nozzles appropriately.
• Understand basic hydraulics: valve size, flow demand, PSI, and their impact on performance.
• Assist in performing irrigation system checks, repairs, and upgrades for proper coverage and water efficiency.
• Assist in repairs of large-scale irrigation issues such as main line repairs, valve repairs and replacements, electrical shorts, lateral line repairs, and head adjustments.
