Job summary

BlueStar Resort & Golf is seeking an Irrigation Technician 2 to join the Landscape Maintenance Team in Peoria, AZ. You’ll manage irrigation system components and schedules for landscaped areas and follow supervision from Foreman, Irrigation Manager, and Superintendents.

Full-time position with benefits. The role requires 2–4 years of irrigation experience, ability to operate irrigation timers, and a willingness to work overtime for events as needed.

Qualifications

• Two to four years irrigation experience preferred.
• Experience with irrigation timing and minor repairs to drip/spray systems a plus.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license may be required to operate some vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for system components and watering schedules on landscaped areas within the community.
• Follow directions under Foreman, Irrigation Manager, and Superintendents.
• Be proactive in anticipating water requirements based on weather and plant needs.
• Collect water meter readings and maintain logs.
• Maintain safety gear and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Communicate daily with supervisors about challenges and maintenance suggestions.
• Identify and correct irrigation performance problems and schedule maintenance tasks.

Where: Peoria, 40 minutes west of Scottsdale & Northwest of downtown Phoenix, Arizona Pay: $22 per hour Benefits New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment. Position Overview As a member of the Landscape Maintenance Team, the Irrigation Technician 2 position is responsible for the system components and watering schedules on landscaped areas within the community. This is a mid-level position that accepts direction from the Foreman, Irrigation Manager, and Superintendents. Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the system components and watering schedules on landscaped areas within the community.
• Follow directions and perform tasks under the supervision of the Foreman, Irrigation Manager, and Superintendents. Cooperate and assist team members; contribute to the completion of daily tasks.
• Be proactive in anticipating water requirements, according to weather and plant needs.
• Collect water meter readings and maintain a log of readings.
• Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned.Make sure all team members are using equipment and safety gear appropriately.
• Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor.
• Communicate daily with supervisors to report challenges about work tasks, concerns about the landscape, or maintenance suggestions to improve efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date as-built documents, maps, and databases.
• Identify and correct irrigation performance problems, monitor equipment to ensure it is in working order and promptly communicate repair needs to a supervisor.
• Supervise vehicle refueling and loading of materials needed for the next day.
• Accurately complete all daily and weekly work logs and repair report reports.
• Conduct end-of-day review and prepare next days’ tasks with supervisor.
• May occasionally be requested to work overtime or during the weekend to assist during special events when extra labor is required (i.e. weddings, tours, openings, etc.).
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two to four years’ irrigation experience preferred.
• Certifications a plus.
• Document a comprehensive knowledge of landscape maintenance with references and work history.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of native and desert-adapted plants, trimming, and water needs.
• Have a comprehensive knowledge of irrigation components, precipitation rates, and scheduling; ability to manually operate irrigation timers and perform minor irrigation repairs to drip and spray systems.
• Ability to operate irrigation timers and perform minor irrigation repairs to drip and spray systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about job tasks and responsibilities.Contribute to a productive work environment by maintaining a good attitude with coworkers and the public.

Work Environment This position works in an outdoor environment.

• There may be frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
• Outdoor environments may require parking and working in residential areas.Obstacles include, but are not limited to, pedestrians and city street traffic, walking while carrying equipment or driving a vehicle on property pathways or variable terrain, water, plants and the natural landscape. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, and falls.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to Arizona desert wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bobcats, javelinas, etc.
• There may be occasional exposure to precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can vary depending on the equipment or machines used.
