Job summary

AZ MetroScapes, Inc. is seeking an irrigation technician to service, repair, and maintain irrigation systems for outdoor facilities. The role includes preventative maintenance, seasonal winterization, and real-time problem solving on complex systems at a golf facility.

The candidate will determine sprinkler head adjustments, manage tool inventories, and conduct monthly system checks while adhering to safety standards and maintaining daily repair logs.

Qualifications

• Certificate from college or technical school; or 3–6 months related experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance on irrigation systems.
• Determines wet and dry areas for sprinkler head adjustments.
• Maintains inventories of irrigation parts and tools.
• Supports pump station maintenance requirements.
• Operates, maintains and repairs complex irrigation systems.
• Reports major irrigation breaks to supervisor and logs repairs daily.
• Prioritizes irrigation breaks and manages time efficiently.
• Conducts monthly checks of sprinkler heads across the golf facility.
• Inspects components to ensure proper operation.
• Responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system.
• Follows safe work practices.
• Maintains regular attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Job description

General Purpose

Operates, services, and repairs the varied components of the irrigation system.

Essential Duties

• Performs preventative maintenance on the irrigation system including the lake re-circulation system and water features.
• Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
• Properly inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools in order to minimize down time.
• Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements
• Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, computer and irrigation control wire.
• Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the Head Irrigation Technician or Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
• Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently.
• Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
• Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly.
• Responsible for winterization and blowout of irrigation system, including all water lines, valves and pump stations.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education/Experience

Certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.

Physical Demands

Regularly stands and walks. Occasionally sits, climbs or balances, tastes or smells. Regularly uses hands; reaches with hands or arms; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls; talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise

Regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and faces risk of electrical shock. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; fumes or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in extreme cold or heat (non-weather).
