Job description

Job Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for providing irrigation installation, maintenance, and service for various residential properties. This role includes keeping accurate records, promoting job worksite safety, providing excellent customer service, and exhibiting pride and quality workmanship.

Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to:

1. Working closely with the Service Manager and Field Supervisor.
2. Representing the company’s best interests while maintaining the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
3. Monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting old and new irrigation installations, observing pipe and valve placements, and evaluating start-ups, winterization, and overall operation of the irrigation system.
4. Conducting and recording detailed inspections and planning/executing upgrades as necessary for the client.
5. Maintaining a clean job site and an orderly, stocked vehicle.
6. Caring for company equipment, tools, and vehicles.
7. Tracking materials and time on service work orders and submitting them daily according to current processes and procedures.

Requirements

1. Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean DMVR.
2. 2 years of experience within the green industry or 1 year of related experience in the irrigation field.
3. Strong customer service background.
4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Essential knowledge and recent prior experience with wire locators, pipe sizing, and multi-meters.
6. Must be self-motivated and professional in appearance and actions.
7. Must be well organized with the ability to multitask.
8. Must have the ability to be proactive, plan ahead, and problem-solve to minimize disruption, errors, and risk while keeping maintenance schedules on task, within budget, and on time.
9. Ability to work independently or as part of a team is essential.
10. Must take ownership of work and ensure tasks are completed accurately and to the complete satisfaction of the customer.
11. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities without constant supervision.
12. Willingness to work overtime and weekends due to the seasonal nature of the work.
13. Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and excavate/backfill necessary holes and trenches safely.

Work Environment

This position requires physical abilities such as strength and manual dexterity, and must be able to perform all required functions of this position. While performing duties of this job, the service technician is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, crouch, reach, stoop, or kneel. This position is regularly exposed to outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme hot or cold conditions. Additional working conditions may include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, and dirty/wet worksites.
