Green Image Landscaping and Tree Service

We maintain, build and care for commercial properties and HOA communities across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Dade. Grounds maintenance, landscape install and enhancement, tree work, and irrigation through our own division, Water Wizard.

About 20 people work here, and most of them are in the field.

What that actually means if you work here:

  • Year round work. South Florida does not stop growing in January and neither do we. There is no seasonal layoff.
  • Commercial only. Fixed routes and properties you get to know, not a different residential driveway every hour.
  • Equipment that starts. Gear gets replaced before it fails, not after.
  • Room to move. Groundsman to crew leader. Crew leader to foreman. Groundsman to climber or irrigation tech. Those moves are open.

We are based in Boca Raton and work across all three counties.

Job Description

Irrigation Technician | Green Image | Boynton Beach, FL. Field based, 3 county service area | 4 day work week: Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30 minute lunch. 40 hours in 4 days, Fridays off. Occasional Friday overtime.

LOCATION

Field based across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Report to the Boynton Beach yard.

SCHEDULE

Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30 minute lunch break. That is a full 40 hours in 4 days, and Fridays off. Occasional overtime on Fridays.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role owns whether irrigation works on the commercial and HOA properties assigned to you. When a zone is down, a head is broken or a controller is programmed wrong, you are the person who finds it and fixes it.

You run repairs and wet checks on a route of commercial properties. You are expected to find problems the client has not reported yet, not just close the tickets that come in.

You document what you found and what you did on every visit, because the property manager is paying for a system that works and needs to see the evidence.

This is a strong fit for someone who can walk a zone, read a controller, and tell the difference between a wire fault and a bad solenoid without calling someone. If you need a supervisor on the phone to diagnose a system, this is not the role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Run scheduled wet checks on assigned commercial and HOA properties and record the condition of every zone.
  • Diagnose and repair broken laterals, heads, valves and solenoids on the same visit wherever parts allow.
  • Trace and repair wire faults, including 2 wire decoder systems.
  • Program and reprogram Rain Bird, Hunter and Toro controllers, and record the schedule you set.
  • Photograph the problem and the repair in CompanyCam on every service call before you leave the property.
  • Flag conditions outside your scope, such as failing pumps or main line breaks, to the assigned manager the same day you find them.
  • Keep the truck stocked so common repairs are completed on the first visit rather than scheduled twice.
  • Report parts used so the job is costed correctly.
WHAT YOU WON'T DO
  • You will not build your own route schedule. Scheduling is owned by the assigned manager.
  • You will not price or sell irrigation repairs or upgrades to the client. You report the condition, the Account Manager handles the conversation.
  • You will not own irrigation system design or new installation plans.
  • You will not perform landscape maintenance or install work on your route.
  • You will not own fleet or equipment maintenance beyond the daily condition of your assigned truck.
TOOLS
  • Service truck and assigned hand and power tools
  • Rain Bird, Hunter and Toro controllers, including 2 wire decoder systems
  • Backflow devices, pumps and well systems
REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 plus years repairing commercial irrigation systems, not residential route work only
  • Able to diagnose a non functioning zone without supervision
  • Programs Rain Bird, Hunter and Toro controllers without a manual
  • Valid Florida driver license and a driving record acceptable to our insurer
  • Able to work outdoors in South Florida heat, rain and humidity year round
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, dig by hand and work in wet trenches
  • Comfortable using a smartphone app to take and upload job photos
  • Preferred: backflow tester certification
  • Preferred: pump and well experience
  • Preferred: Spanish and English
SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Scheduled wet checks completed on the assigned properties within the service window.
  • CompanyCam photo documentation completed on 100 percent of service calls before leaving the property.
  • Repairs completed on the first visit rather than rescheduled, measured monthly.
  • Callbacks on completed repairs stay under the threshold set by your manager.
  • Conditions outside your scope are reported to the assigned manager the same day they are found.
  • Parts used are reported on every job so labor and material are costed accurately.
