Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC is seeking an Irrigation Technician to install, test, and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinklers, pumps, and water lines. The role involves operating trenching equipment and wiring water timers, with a focus on safety and efficient field operations.

The candidate will troubleshoot controllers, assist with problem diagnosis, and maintain detailed maintenance records. Health and safety procedures are emphasized in daily work and reporting to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Knowledge of irrigation methods, tools, equipment and practices.
  • Must know PVC installation techniques.
  • Able to perform site assessments.
  • Able to perform basic math calculations.
  • Able to respond to emergencies promptly.
  • Adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs irrigation controllers, including electrical.
  • Assists with diagnosing irrigation problems.
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities and work orders.
  • Operates equipment safely and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Performs trenching and installs irrigation mainlines from 1” to 12”.
  • Repairs backflow prevention devices.
  • Trains personnel as needed.
  • Ensures OSHA compliance and safety culture.
  • Communicates issues with supervisors and prepares reports.
  • Attends meetings as required.

Irrigation Technician

This position is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining irrigation equipment including sprinklers, pumps, water lines, and suction valves. Irrigation technicians may also be required to operate heavy machinery for trenching and install wiring systems for water timers.

This position is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining irrigation equipment including sprinklers, pumps, water lines, and suction valves. Irrigation technicians may also be required to operate heavy machinery for trenching and install wiring systems for water timers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Designs, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs many types and models of irrigation controllers, including electrical.
  • Assists field personnel with diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation related problems.
  • Uses a proactive approach to irrigation system management.
  • Performs site assessments, inspects equipment, inventory supplies and maintains adequate on-hand supplies.
  • Maintains, repairs and troubleshoots numerous sizes and types of control valves.
  • Repairs irrigation mainlines from 1” to 12” in size, using components and techniques established by the industry.
  • Repairs backflow prevention devices
  • Train personnel as needed.
  • Conform to OSHA regulations.
  • Maintains detailed records of maintenance activities and completed work orders.
  • Communicate any and all issues with supervisors within the organization.
  • Prepares necessary documents and reports.
  • Assists in the creation of a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safely in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practices to the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Attends meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years-of-age or older.
  • Must be able to operate or use trenching and boring equipment and shovel to prepare trenches.
  • Possesses knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials, and practices used in the irrigation trade.
  • Must have knowledge of PVC installation and techniques.
  • Able to provide detailed irrigation site assessments.
  • Able to perform basic math calculations.
  • Able to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe, skillful, and timely manner.
  • Understand and use proper safety procedures.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
