Qualifications

  • 2–3 years irrigation and low-voltage lighting maintenance/installation experience.
  • Safe operation of wire tracking equipment and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic flow, pipe sizing, and GPM requirements.
  • Valid Tennessee driver's license required.
  • Ability to operate landscape machinery and read instructions in English.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Job description

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Troubadour Golf & Field Club set outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

Troubadour Golf & Field Club in College Grove, TN is currently seeking a Irrigation & Lighting Technician to join our Horticulture Team.

The Irrigation & Lighting Technician is responsible for maintaining the grounds of the club and residential homes. Responsibilities may include weeding (chemical and manual), lawn mowing, string trimming, edging, mulching, pruning, and raking. This position is key to maintaining a magnificent visual appeal to our members. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily record keeping of materials, labor and other information within operations management system via smartphone or tablet.
  • Maintain, repair and install landscape and turf irrigation systems throughout a wide range of systems. Multi-wire, two-wire, metered and well pump fed systems. Experience with two-wire operation and troubleshooting is required.
  • Maintain, repair and install low-voltage landscape lighting systems.
  • Record keeping of seasonal irrigation schedules thru daily, weekly and monthly inspection reports.
  • Assist with watering of new landscape installs, including seasonal color, depending on seasonality of projects and workload.
  • Participate in leaf removal and dormant landscape maintenance operations during off-season.
  • Assist with landscape installation projects as needed.
  • Safe operation of all hand tools, gas trimmers and chainsaws, large and small equipment such as push mowers, walk behind and zero turn lawnmower, skid steer, tractors and mini-excavator.
  • Keep all work areas orderly and neat.
  • Participate in daily set-up/closing of the department’s tools and equipment.
  • Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately to the Landscape Manager/Horticulturist.
  • Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 2-3 years irrigation AND low-voltage lighting maintenance and/or installation experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to safely and properly operate wire tracking equipment, diagnose cause, and repair properly.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic flow requirements, including pipe sizing, proper head and nozzle usage and GPM requirements/restrictions.
  • Possess valid Tennessee driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles properly and safely.
  • Ability to operate landscape machinery such as push rotary mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, utility vehicles, and riding mowers.
  • Plant knowledge/horticultural practices and proper watering of wide assortment of landscapes is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with assigned crew members and other members of department. *Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clientele when needed.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and operate in a safe, professional manner.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to learn and navigate the property to complete assigned job tasks.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
