Job summary

Fondomonte is hiring an Irrigation Design & Infrastructure Specialist to lead the technical design and CAD-based documentation for irrigation, underground pipelines, and fire suppression systems on our farm sites.

You will produce drawings in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, collect field data, and coordinate with surveyors and engineers. A strong background in turf/agriculture or civil engineering is preferred, with training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Turfgrass Science, Turfgrass/Golf Course Management, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Irrigation/Water Resources, Agronomy, or related field.
• Graduate degree in Turfgrass Science or Turf/Golf Course Management is valued; coursework in irrigation hydraulics and pipe design is relevant.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, or aptitude to learn.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout irrigation systems (drip, pivot, flood, and micro-irrigation) tailored to crop, soil, and water delivery needs.
• Plan and design underground pipeline infrastructure, including sizing, routing, and integration with pump stations and water sources.
• Design underground fire suppression infrastructure, including fire mains and hydrant lines, per NFPA standards.
• Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD / Civil 3D, including site plans and as-built documentation.
• Conduct field data collection - topographic surveys, GPS/GNSS mapping, site condition assessments.
• Coordinate with licensed land surveyors, civil engineers, and fire protection contractors when licensure is required.
• Evaluate existing irrigation and drainage infrastructure and support budgeting and scheduling.

We are hiring an Irrigation Design & Infrastructure Specialist to bring technical design and engineering capability to our Fondomonte Maintenance and Engineering team. This role covers irrigation system design, underground pipeline layout, and underground fire suppression infrastructure - applying CAD-based design and field expertise to keep our farm infrastructure efficient, compliant, and built to scale.

We're looking for someone with formal technical training - ideally in turfgrass science, agricultural engineering, or civil engineering - and we're prepared to invest in training and mentorship to grow the right candidate into the full scope of the role. A professional license is not required to apply.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout irrigation systems (drip, pivot, flood, and micro-irrigation) tailored to crop, soil, and water delivery needs
• Plan and design underground pipeline infrastructure, including sizing, routing, and integration with pump stations and water sources
• Design underground fire suppression infrastructure, including fire mains and hydrant lines, in accordance with NFPA standards
• Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD / Civil 3D, including site plans and as-built documentation
• Conduct field data collection - topographic surveys, GPS/GNSS mapping, and site condition assessments
• Coordinate with outside licensed land surveyors, civil engineers, and fire protection contractors on any work requiring a professional stamp, license, or recorded filing
• Evaluate existing irrigation and drainage infrastructure and support project budgeting and scheduling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Turfgrass Science, Turfgrass/Golf Course Management, Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Irrigation/Water Resources, Agronomy, or a related field
• Graduate degree in Turfgrass Science or Turf/Golf Course Management is especially valued - coursework in irrigation hydraulics and pipe design translates directly
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, or a strong aptitude to learn
• Prior agricultural, turf, or golf course industry experience is a plus
• Comfortable working both in the field and in an office/CAD setting
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company farm locations
• No PE or PLS license required; candidates working toward licensure are welcome

Compensation & Benefits

$80,000-$100,000 per year, scaled to education and experience, plus full company benefits (health, dental, vision, PTO, and 401(k)). Additional benefits include a company vehicle and housing (based on availability). We invest in the training and professional development needed to grow this position over time.
