This position involves semi-skilled work in operating irrigation systems, performing repairs, and managing Integrated Pest Management. Responsibilities include safe mixing and application of pesticides and fertilizers, maintaining town-wide irrigation systems, overseeing personnel, and other manual tasks as assigned.

  • Operate Town motorized equipment as assigned.
  • Mix and apply pesticides and fertilizers safely in parks, rights-of-way, and other areas.
  • Follow “Green Industry Best Management Practices”.
  • Supervise employees and contractors in assigned areas.
  • Communicate effectively with Town staff and contractors via phone, text, and email.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads, electrical and hydraulic valves, and solar systems.
  • Identify and treat pests and diseases in Town areas.
  • Manage irrigation water for all Town facilities.

Qualifications include at least five years of ground maintenance experience and knowledge of irrigation, plant, turf, and palm disease identification. Must possess a class “E” driver’s license. A Florida Chapter 487 RUP license and GI-BMP certification are required or must be obtained within 6 months. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills required include chemical use knowledge, extensive irrigation system expertise, ability to operate a vehicle, maintain records, train and supervise staff, and maintain a professional environment. Strong public and employee relations skills are essential.
