Job description

Site: Mass General Brigham Home Care, Inc.

Job Summary

Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restore patient physical functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices. Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required. For licensure prior to 2016, a bachelor’s or master’s degree is acceptable; licensure from 2016 onward requires completion of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.

Essential Functions
  • Complete billing sheet accurately by end of day.
  • Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Perform patient assessment and establish a plan of care.
  • Provide in‑service education programs for nursing personnel as needed.
  • Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
  • Discuss evaluation, goals and treatment with both patient and family.
  • Participate in hospital‑wide quality process improvement.
  • Supervise PTAs according to organization policy and state regulations.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy required; Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy preferred; Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred. Role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Licenses and Credentials
  • Physical Therapist [State License]
  • Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver’s License preferred
Experience

Experience completing internship or apprenticeship program 1‑2 years preferred.
