Position Overview: Loenbro is seeking experienced iron workers in the structural steel erection industry. The ironworker will construct and dismantle the metal framework for large structures.

Job Duties:

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, documentation, and plans work activities.
  • Directs and positions team members efficiently, utilizing a clear tagging system to ensure smooth operations.
  • Pull, push, or pry steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
  • Forces members into the final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Aligns bolt holes in steel members using drift pins or spud wrenches.
  • Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work sites.
  • Removes, repairs, and replaces or installs a broad range of structural components and assemblies in support of plant construction and maintenance activities.
  • Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
  • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing the required personal safety equipment.
  • Appropriately and safely use a variety of hand and power tools including turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and other tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Welders must be able to pass AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.8 Test.
  • Three years’ experience as an ironworker preferred.
  • High school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeship required.
  • MSHA certification preferred.
  • Ensures possession and readiness of all necessary tools and equipment required for trade.
  • Must be able to read and interpret basic blueprints.
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • The ability to work in conditions common to a construction site including, but not limited to, rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, and noise.
  • Previous experience safely using a variety of hand and power tools including turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and other tools.
  • Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks and pulling up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to crawl into and in uneven spaces.
  • Walking on uneven surfaces, with an average of two miles per day.
  • Potential or periodic amounts of time for the following:
    • Sit, stoop, crawl, stand, and kneel.
  • If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
