Sundt Construction is seeking skilled ironworkers in Arizona to plan, lay-out and perform structural steel erection and fabrication in line with plans, specs and codes. The role requires reading drawings, following directions from supervision, and maintaining safety and quality standards on site.

Ideal candidates will have 3–6+ years in the ironworker trade, strong math skills, and excellent communication. The position involves long shifts, heavy lifting, and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Must read and understand drawings, specs, safety and quality standards.
• Minimum three to six years in ironworker trade depending on level.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Continually share knowledge with the crew.
• Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
• High proficiency in related trade mathematics.
• Inspect subordinates' work to ensure accuracy and compliance and take corrective action.
• Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
• Look for opportunities for improvement and be willing to learn from others.
• Maintain positive working relationships with crew members.
• Produce high quality work safely and productively at all times.
• Provide feedback to ensure materials, tools, equipment and information are available.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
• Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level Ill) and six plus years (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the ironworker trade.
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
• May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
• Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
• Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
• Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
