Position Summary
Responsible for the layout, installation, assembly, and steel erection components in accordance with blueprint plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Read specifications or blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, or sizes of materials required.
- Fabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting; hoist steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators.
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or levels.
- Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
- Force structural steel members into final positions, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
- Pull, push, or pries structural steel members into approximate positions for bolting.
- Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding.
- Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks.
- Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance, point out deficiencies, and take corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with experience in the field or related area.
- Strong working knowledge and skills for the position.
- Ability to follow and transmit written and oral instructions effectively.
- Proficient in the safe use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
Requirements:
- Constant movement on construction sites; ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
- Use ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms to access work areas.
- Move and work around confined, cluttered, and uneven spaces.
- Complete tasks in noisy and dusty environments.
- May need to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must have required tools and possibly a U.S. Driver License.
- Comply with safety and project rules, pass drug, medical, and background checks.
