Job summary

Southern Spear Ironworks LLC in Chattanooga seeks a dedicated Journeyman Iron Worker to join our team. The role focuses on accurate erection of structural steel in accordance with OSHA and AISC guidelines to build level and plumb structures in a fast-paced environment.

You will raise, position, align, and connect columns, beams and other structural members, ensuring safety, efficiency and quality workmanship on every project. A minimum of 5 years' experience and related certifications are valued.

Qualifications

• Rigging and signaling proficiency required.
• Ability to weld 3G & 4G SMAW and bolt up members.
• Ability to read erection and shop drawings.
• Experience with layout using gridlines and benchmarks.
• Knowledge of fall protection and safety equipment.

An Iron Worker at Southern Spear Ironworks is responsible for the accurate erection of structural steel members in accordance with OSHA and AISC guidelines.

This position requires the ability to work steel efficiently and accurately to build a level and plumb building in a fast-paced environment.

We are searching for someone to accomplish raising, positioning, aligning, and connecting columns beams and other structural members to complete structural framing.

Requirements

• Rigging experience
• Signal experience
• Ability to weld 3G & 4G SMAW
• Bolt up structural members
• Ability to read Erection and Shop Drawings
• Ability to fabricate structural members in the field
• Must have experience installing stairs, guardrails, and grab rails
• Ability to use gridlines and benchmarks to complete layout
• Must be comfortable with heights
• Knowledge of commercial construction.
• Fall protection and safety equipment knowledge
• OSHA 10 Certification
• Must have 5 years experience
• NCCER certification is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Depending on the project that you are assigned to and your level of experience and abilities, Southern Spear Ironworks is currently offering in excess of $42.00 an hour for ironworkers located here in Chattanooga. Other additional benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and 401k can be provided.
