Job summary

Koch is seeking an Ironworker Helper for the Baytown II project in Baytown, Texas. The role involves assisting skilled ironworkers with assembly, erection, and rigging of structural steel components on site.

Responsibilities include reading drawings, using hand tools, setting up rigging, and lifting operations safely. Physical demands include working at height and across long shifts; travel to remote sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as an ironworker helper is required.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of crane hand signals (hand and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled ironworkers in assembling, erecting, and rigging structural steel as directed.
• Read drawings and follow basic steel assembly practices.
• Use torque wrenches, impact guns and other hand tools as directed.
• Set up and maintain rigging equipment and handle chains, slings, cables, and hooks.
• Communicate with riggers and crane operators via crane hand signals.
• Perform lifting operations safely, including use of crane mats and barricades.
• Cut I-beams with grinder, torch, or band saw as indicated.
• Work at heights on man baskets, elevated platforms, or narrow walkways (over 80% of time).
