Position Summary

Raises, modifies, places, and bolts or welds structural-steel members to form completed structures or frameworks as part of a crew.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
  1. Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, etc., for accurate task execution.
  2. Understand Plant North and drawing directions.
  3. Assist in setting up hoisting equipment for structural-steel placement.
  4. Assist in fastening steel members using cables, slings, or ropes.
  5. Guide members into position using tag lines and assist in final positioning with tools like turnbuckles and jacks.
  6. Align holes and bolt members using drift pins, wrenches, and other tools.
  7. Assist in bolting and welding steel members.
  8. Work in other crafts as trained and directed.
  9. Have basic knowledge of heavy industrial construction processes.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • 3-4 years of related experience or training, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years in a helper role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safety programs and regulations.
  • Active participation in safety meetings.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work accurately.
Physical Demands
  • Work up to 12 hours in varying outdoor conditions.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks requiring strength and stamina.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces with safety equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, coordination, and balance required.
Hours and Travel

Full-time, typically 50 hours/week, with travel up to 90% to project sites.
