Job summary

Optimized Process Designs LLC (OPD) is seeking an Ironworker Foreman for a site located in Carthage, TX. The role requires leading ironworking crews, understanding structural steel installation, and enforcing safety on active job sites.

Travel to remote areas is expected, with long shifts and outdoor conditions. The ideal candidate will have foreman experience, be fluent in English, and demonstrate strong safety leadership within gas plant construction environments.

  • Must be able to read, write & communicate in English.

  • Assess load weights and plan safe lifts.
  • Enforce company safety policies on the jobsite.
  • Coordinate with rigging team and crane operator.

The job site located in Carthage, TX has an opening for an Ironworker Foreman.

What You Will Do

Some core responsibilities for an Ironworker Foreman include:

  • Strong knowledge of structural iron, rigging, tools, procedures, safe lifting, and best practices.
  • Practical knowledge of structural steel assembly and installation
  • Able to effectively communicate with the rigging team (other riggers and crane operator)
  • Must be familiar with the standard crane hand signals
  • Must be able to assess weights of loads and equipment needed to lift safely
  • Ability to lead small teams
  • Assign job duties of the crew and ensure that each employee is properly trained
  • Being a safety role model for the team
  • Enforcing OPD and client specific safety policies and procedures on the jobsite
  • Anticipate and recognize potential safety and environmental concerns and report them to the OPD Superintendent.
  • Providing records of work completed to the OPD Superintendent

Some Physical Demands Of Being An Ironworker Foreman Include
  • Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
  • Must be able to work on elevated platforms and maintain balance when stepping on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes. Must be able to perform these activities while wearing an approved full-body harness and lanyard.
  • Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs
  • Standing for extended periods of time up to 12 hours per day.
  • Moving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.
  • Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • At least 2 years of experience as a foreman or supervisor
  • Knowledgeable of crane signals (hand and verbal)
  • Must be able to read, write & communicate in English
  • Must be a role model for safety
  • Must follow company safety procedures and industry known best work practices
  • Must be able to wear an approved full body harness and lanyard to work on highly elevated platforms and maintain balance when stepping on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes
  • Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times.
  • Must be willing and able to attend and/or lead employee safety meetings
  • Must be able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week
  • Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Previous experience in a gas plant construction environment
  • At least 5 years of previous experience as an ironworker foreman
  • At least 5 years of previous experience as an ironworker
  • Previous experience being a leader in safety
  • Previous experience leading small teams of 10-25 people
