Job summary

LPR Construction, Inc. is seeking an Apprentice Ironworker in Mesa, AZ to assist with structural iron and steel erection while learning the trade toward Journeyman level.

You will work under supervision to complete tasks in a timely and quality manner, including unloading, bolt-up, and deck laying with Tek Screws. Responsibilities include following blueprints, using hand tools, and observing safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must meet physical requirements including heights up to 60 ft and long periods of standing.
• Experience in unloading, erection and bolt-up of structural iron per blueprints.
• Detail work including welding clips, joists and long spans; use of hand tools and safety gear.

Responsibilities

• Unload, shake-out and erect structural and miscellaneous iron from trucks to designated areas.
• Bolt-up columns, beams, and girders per blueprints and supervisor instructions.
• Detail work including welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers; install safety cable/posts.
• Lay deck and weld with Tek Screws.
• Position structural-steel members, push/pull as needed, and prepare for Journeyman certification.
• Complete apprentice self-study modules until Journeyman certification is obtained.
• Perform related duties as assigned

Job description

Under supervision, the Apprentice Ironworker is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron and steel erection and completing the tasks in a timely, quality manner while learning trade and practicing/studying to become Journeyman level.

Required Skills

Ability to meet physical requirements of job i.e. working at heights up to 60', long periods of standing, walking, bending, climbing, welding, using hand tools, wearing safety harness and tool belt, exposure to weather, etc.

Required Experience

• Unloading, shake-out and erection of structural and miscellaneous iron from trucks to designated areas and/or from one area to another.
• Bolt-up columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
• Detail Work may include installing angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers; installing safety cable and safety posts; or shaking out and spreading joists and long spans.
• Laying deck and welding with Tek Screws.
• Pull, push, or pry structural-steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place.
• Complete apprentice self -study modules until Journeyman certification is obtained
• Perform related duties as assigned
