Company Description Weigel Construction Inc., located in Spring Hill, Kansas, has been serving the greater Kansas City area since 1993 as a family-owned commercial metal building contractor. The company is a certified dealer and erector for American Building Co., Star Building Systems, and Stockade building systems, offering affordable design and quality construction services. Weigel Construction specializes in pre-engineered metal buildings and also has extensive experience with both wood-framed and steel-framed structures. Its professional crews bring decades of field experience and follow current safety practices and construction site management standards to help control costs and deliver reliable results for customers.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Ironworker role based in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The Ironworker will install, align, and secure structural steel members and metal building components according to plans and specifications. Daily tasks include cutting, welding, and bolting iron and steel, operating power tools and equipment, and performing rigging to move and position materials safely. The role involves working at heights with appropriate fall protection, participating in site setup and cleanup, and collaborating with other crew members to maintain safe and efficient construction workflows. The Ironworker will follow company safety policies and OSHA standards while supporting high-quality, on-schedule project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Candidates will learn how to build pre-engineered metal buildings. Any prior experience would be preferred.
  • Candidates should possess power tools operation skills for construction tasks (e.g., drills, grinders, saws).
  • Candidates will be trained in rigging and material-handling skills to safely move, lift, and position steel components.
  • Candidates will be trained in fall protection knowledge, but need to be comfortable working safely at heights.
  • Experience in commercial or industrial construction, particularly metal building erection, is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and basic measurements is beneficial.
  • Strong safety awareness, physical stamina, and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions are required.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area is necessary.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA safety training, welding certifications) are a plus.
