Position Description

Assist in performing duties such as raising, placing, and connecting girders, columns, and other structural steel components to form structures or frameworks according to blueprints, working as part of a crew. All duties must be performed safely, efficiently, and with high quality.

Job Responsibilities

• Set up hoisting equipment for lifting and positioning structural steel.
• Rig steel members for hoisting using chains, cables, or ropes.
• Signal operators to lift and place steel components.
• Guide steel members into position using tag lines.
• Pull, push, or pry steel into approximate positions supported by hoisting devices.
• Use turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools to finalize positioning.
• Align bolt holes and verify positioning using appropriate tools.
• Bolt and secure members temporarily until permanent fastening.
• Cut and weld steel components as needed for modifications.
• Adhere to all safety and project-specific rules.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant field experience.
• Required tools include a tape measure, crescent wrench, spud wrenches, sleever bar, hammers, bull pins, harness with gear, levels, socket set, center punch, chalk box, among others.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, and work at heights up to 200 feet.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions and over 40 hours per week, including weekends.
• Background check and drug screening as per job location requirements.
