Job description

Iron Worker

Iron Workers must have knowledge of rigging and flame cutting. They should be able to use pneumatic tools, understand safe load capacities, be familiar with basic hand signals, and have experience with sizing chokers. Knowledge of basic steel erection, fall protection, and safety measures is essential.

Responsibilities may include:

• Erecting and connecting steel at and above grade levels
• Practicing proper rigging techniques
• Using hand signals to guide crane operations
• Assisting other craft workers as needed

REPCON Required Qualifications:

Pass the REPCON Iron Worker Assessment

Pass the REPCON Basic Rigging Assessment or be NCCER certified

Current Basic Orientation Plus (Safety Council card) or valid within months of expiration

Current TWIC Card

At least three years of experience in the craft

Proven industrial construction or maintenance work history

Ability to interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and manuals accurately

Good problem-solving and reading comprehension skills

Ability to work well with others and independently with minimal supervision

Effective communication skills (speaking and listening)

Physical Requirements:

• Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting
• Good manual dexterity for machinery adjustments
• Using arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, and control objects and tools
• Ability to lift and carry up to specified weight (please specify lbs)
• Work at heights, climb ladders and platforms, utilizing fall protection
• Good vision for focusing, distance, colors, and depth perception
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions for long hours
• Wear PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots
