Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an Iron Technician I in Midland, TX. You will provide assembly and testing of various mechanical components, manage inventory, and perform quality checks with minimal supervision, advancing through the production flow from delivery to final inspection.

This role involves disassembly assistance, flow control assembly, NDT trainee activities, and hands-on development of shop skills, with a 10 days on/4 off schedule and a shift premium.

Qualifications

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired but not required
  • Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as hammers and screw drivers
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming iron starts to finish. Able to accept equipment from delivery, recertify equipment, load equipment for delivery, complete all associate paperwork, perform quality check, and manage inventory (without supervision)
  • Assists Iron Technicians during the disassembling phase
  • Clean, strip and inspect all required flow control components
  • Prepare flow control products for Gauging, Ultra Sonic, and MPI inspections
  • Ability to demonstrate the disassemble of flow control products per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Ability to identify SPM and Customer product
  • Ability to assemble flow control product
  • Nondestructive Testing Trainee (NDT Trainee)
  • Manifold tear down/rebuild trainee
  • Demonstrates computer skills for the SPM AMP System
  • Inventory Incoming Iron
  • Provides proper care and maintenance of all shop tools, equipment, and work area
  • Monitors daily work activities to ensure requirements are met
  • Performs other routine duties as assigned

Job Summary:

The Iron Technician I provides assembly and testing of various mechanical components.


Additional Information:


  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

  • Starting Pay: $23.00, additional based on experience

  • Will receive a shift premium

  • Schedule: 10 days on, 4 days off, 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM, Currently working 6:00 PM – 5:00 AM

  • Overtime based on business need, weekends as needed


What you will do:

Physical Demands:


  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear

  • Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

  • Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department


Work Environment:


  • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions

  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration

  • Noise Level: Moderate


Summary Pay Range:

$23.00 - $30.75
