Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to set up interventional radiology rooms and support patient care in the imaging suite. You will interact with patients and families to ensure a compassionate visit and advance skills in fluoroscopy, DSA, and proactive equipment handling.

Required licensure and ARRT CE credits; formal training in Radiologic Technology and approximately one year of experience preferred. The position is full-time and onsite in Rochester, NY.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist upon hire required.
  • ARRT certification with CE credits upon hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up interventional radiology (IR) rooms for the specific study.
  • Interact with patients and families to create a caring atmosphere during visits.
  • Develop proficiency with interventional procedures, fluoroscopy room equipment, DSA, inventory, and post processing tools.
  • Prepare room and patient for exams; arrange equipment and determine exposure factors.
  • Verify patient details in electronic systems and adhere to dual patient identifier procedures.
  • Transfer patients using ARJO lift, boards, or hover mats; maintain accurate records and PACS transmission.

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for setting up interventional radiology (IR) rooms specific to the study being conducted.
  • Utilizes customer service skills while interacting with patients as well as family members to create a caring atmosphere during their visit.
  • Progresses towards proficient and competent performance with regards to interventional procedures, fluoroscopy room equipment, digital subtraction, inventory, power injections and post processing tools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepares room and patient specific to the exam to be performed.
  • Arranges equipment, trays, supplies, position patients, and determine proper exposure factors to produce a high-quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider.
  • Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Observes each patient’s status and interprets appropriate information needed to meet age-specific needs.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
  • Makes maintain accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist upon hire required
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with CE credits upon hire required
