In collaboration with interventional radiologists and nursing, this job safely prepares for and scrubs into interventional procedures. This role requires advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography and adherence to prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols.

Education

Required: Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA-approved school.

Work Experience

Required: None

Preferred: 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology.

Certifications

Required: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE), and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows applications and role-specific software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
Job Duties
  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Operate equipment independently to complete imaging procedures according to protocol.
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Perform quality control procedures in compliance with standards.
  • Assist with departmental operations (inventory, scheduling, equipment maintenance).
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication preferences.
  • Other related duties as required.
