Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a radiology imaging technologist to perform diagnostic imaging using fluoro and X-ray modalities for ER, surgical, inpatients and outpatients. Responsibilities include positioning patients, ensuring safety, communicating with patients and families, maintaining records, and supporting compliance with OSHA, TJC, TDH and ACR guidelines.

• Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service requirements and ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, establishing rapport.
• Instructs patients and/or families regarding tests and assesses patient ability to tolerate exam.
• Prepares patient or area for IR procedure by positioning patient and adjusting equipment.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection-control, drug and radiation policies.
• Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operating capabilities of equipment.
• Maintains imaging records in the department system per policies and standards.
• Assists leadership in maintaining policies and records for regulatory and accrediting bodies (OSHA, TJC, TDH, ACR).
• Other relevant duties as assigned

Job description

Responsible for performing imaging utilizing the appropriate equipment for diagnosis and treatment planning with regards to patient care. The incumbent demonstrates competency in skills necessary to care for patients served. Performs multiple types of imaging, including fluoro and X-ray, involving emergency room patients, surgical patients, inpatients and outpatients

Principal Accountabilities:

• 1. Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to: identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others.
• 2. Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patients family regarding the test to be performed and assesses patients ability to tolerate exam.
• 3. Prepares patient or area for IR procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• 4. Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and techniques.
• 5. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
• 6. Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.
• 7. Assists leadership in maintaining all required policies, procedures, standards and records for applicable governmental, regulatory and accrediting organizations by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations of the OSHA, TJC, TDH and ACR.
