Job summary

Moxtek is seeking an IQA, Production Quality Technician & CMM Operator to ensure incoming materials meet drawing requirements before release to production. You will collaborate with engineering to define GD&T methods and perform First Article Inspections to approve new parts and vendors.

The role maintains and programs precision measuring instruments, including CMMs, optical comparators, and microscopic systems; develops measurement routines to reduce errors and improve efficiency; and issues

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an inspection position in machine parts/manufacturing preferred.
• Experience with MCOSMOS or similar CMM software preferred.
• Two-year technology degree preferred.
• ASQ CQI/CQT/CQA/CQSP preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: The IQA, Production Quality Technician & CMM Operator is responsible for ensuring incoming materials meet drawing requirements before being released to production. They collaborate with engineering to develop Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) methods for defining part inspection requirements. This role performs First Article Inspection (FAIs) to approve new parts and vendors, and also issues Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) for failed incoming materials and in-process products.

Essential Functions:

• Inspect raw materials and supplied parts used in the manufacturing of X-ray and Optics products using mechanical, electrical, and optical inspection and measuring equipment.
• Maintain, program, and operate precision measuring instruments, including coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical comparators, computer-aided microscope measuring systems, confocal laser, and manual inspection tools.
• Understand and improve existing measurement routines (i.e. CMM programs, automated and manual inspection protocols) to reduce measurement error and improve efficiency.
• Respond to quality issues throughout the organization, including quarantining non-conforming products, assisting in root cause analysis and prevention, and effectively communicating results to internal customers.
• Support R&D Engineering in the development and measurement of new components.
• Develop measurement methods for new and existing Moxtek components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings with a strong understanding of GD&T principles.
• Maintain the IQA Database.
• Generate Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) and collaborate with internal customers, supplier engineering, and purchasing department when parts are nonconforming.
• Develop and utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) controls to identify and mitigate receiving risks.
• Perform audits assigned to ensure compliance with Moxtek's requirements.
• Assist Quality Engineering with other quality projects, and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• 5 years' experience in an inspection position in the machine parts or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with MCOSMOS software (or other similar CMM software) preferred.
• Two-year degree in a technology field preferred.
• ASQ certification in relevant areas preferred but not required (e.g., Certified Quality Inspector - CQI, Certified Quality Technician - CQT, Certified Quality Auditor - CQA, or Supplier Quality Professional - CQSP).
