    Position:

    AVP in the Independent Price Verification (Valuation Review) Group

    The Independent Price Verification process is the process by which the IPV team verifies fair value. This is achieved through independently ensuring price input parameters and prices are correctly identified and used in determining and reporting the fair value of existing positions. This process ensures appropriate reporting of the value of the firm’s trading assets and liabilities to its management, clients, shareholders, auditors, regulators and the audit committee.

    The IPV group provides independent valuation opinions across the entire range of financial instruments within the firm’s sales and trading inventory as well as pushing forward multiple renovation initiatives. The team provides a critical role in ensuring the firms books and records accurately represent fair value and are a key liaison with the Front Office Trading desks, Investment Banking, Product Control, Risk, Middle Office and IT.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for all aspects of the valuation control for securitized products including independent price verification, valuation adjustments, fair value measurement and reporting and analysis. Assets include, but not limited, to CLO, Agency MBS, CMBS, and ABS.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with Front Office, Risk Management, Product Control, Accounting Policy and Internal/External Audit. Build and maintain relationships with these critical business partners.
    • Develop, document and communicate the valuation approach and assumptions utilized in the valuation analysis
    • Assign fair value leveling as required by ASC 820
    • Reporting and analysis
    • Review and in-depth analysis of level 3 (hard-to-value) positions

    Background and Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience in Valuation, Risk or Product Control with a focus on securitized products.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering or Finance related fields
    • Familiarity with valuation principles and methodologies used in hard-to-value assets

    Skills:

    • Strong technical understanding of securitized products
    • Excellent understanding of securitized products valuation principals and approaches
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
    • Excellent Excel, Blomberg and Intex skills
    • Proficiency in languages such as VBA, R or Python preferred
    • Ability to understand complex concepts and effectively present challenges

    The salary range for this role is $110,000-$150,000.
