Job summary

Vertex Inc. invites applications for a 6-month Human Cell Models co-op in Boston. The program focuses on developing physiologically relevant iPSC-derived cell models for drug discovery, with mentorship from senior scientists and exposure to cross-functional teams.

You will design experiments, generate data, and contribute to reproducible cellular models that inform decisions, while gaining hands-on industry experience in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in MS or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Stem Cell Biology, or related field.
• Experience with cell culture and aseptic laboratory technique is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication of scientific findings.
• Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving skills; able to troubleshoot experimental challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to develop and validate iPSC-derived models supporting project objectives.
• Identify and mitigate experimental risks to enable robust model development.
• Culture iPSC lines and establish iPSC-derived cell models; perform immunofluorescence microscopy and gene expression assays.
• Troubleshoot and optimize methods for protocol transfer across teams.
• Analyze and communicate experimental findings and data-driven recommendations.
• Maintain accurate experimental records and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
