Job summary

Vertex is offering a 6-month Human Cell Models – iPSC Cell Biology Research Co-op for students pursuing an advanced degree in molecular biology, biology, biomedical engineering, stem cell biology, or related fields. The role emphasizes independent project work, collaboration with experienced scientists, and hands-on lab experience in a fast-paced environment.

Successful applicants will work full-time, 40 hours/week, January–June 2027, with a pay rate of $30.00–$50.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an advanced degree program (MS or PhD) in a related field.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique.
• Strong written and verbal communication of scientific findings.
• Ability to troubleshoot experimental challenges and learn quickly.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship for internships.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute iPSC-derived model experiments.
• Mitigate risks like cell line variability; ensure reproducible models.
• Culture iPSC lines and characterize derived cell models.
• Perform immunofluorescence and gene expression assays.
• Communicate findings and maintain accurate records.
