Job Summary:



The Interprofessional Certificate in Palliative Care (IPCC)/Master of Science in Palliative Care (MSPC) are online graduate education programs that prepare providers-physicians, nurses (including BSN and advanced practice nurses), physician assistants, pharmacists, social workers, spiritual care providers, psychologists, therapists, counselors and ethicists-to be Palliative Care Community Specialists. Graduates provide high-quality palliative consultation and care to patients and families living with serious and life-threatening illness. The IPCC/MSPC programs are based at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine. The MSPC is foundational for the University of Colorado Community Hospice and Palliative Medicine (CHPM) Fellowship for physicians who wish to become board-certified practitioners in palliative care and hospice.


This position will be co-teaching spirituality content in the programs. We are seeking two people to fulfill this role; one as a Medical Doctor and one with a Master's in Divinity (or comparable degree).


Key Responsibilities:



  • Co-/create online content for IPCC/MSPC courses. Content will be based on current evidence for best practices of care, follow ADA guidelines, include diverse perspectives, and properly credit work from other sources.

  • Co-/grade student submissions in a timely manner as determined by faculty mentor.

  • Engage in respectful communication and collaboration with students, faculty, and program leadership.

  • Attend quarterly MSPC faculty meetings.

  • Mentor students as needed.



Work Location:



Remote - This role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States.

Master's Candidates:



  • At least 2 years clinical palliative care medicine or spiritual care experience

  • Master of Divinity or similar degree

  • Spiritual Care or Palliative Care Fellowship or other palliative care certification

  • Two or more years of graduate-level online teaching experience

  • Curriculum development/education materials development experience (e.g., creating PowerPoint lectures)

  • Canvas experience (as an instructor and/or a student)


Doctoral Candidates:



  • MD/DO with active medical license

  • At least 2 years clinical palliative care medicine or spiritual care experience

  • Spiritual Care or Palliative Care Fellowship or other palliative care certification

  • Two or more years of graduate-level online teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Three or more years of online teaching experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Dexterity with Microsoft Office products: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both in written and verbal contexts (includes attention to spelling, grammar, and punctuation)

  • Familiarity with APA and AMA formatting

  • Responsiveness to student concerns

  • Time management skills

  • Effective interpersonal skills, e.g., provide constructive feedback, model professionalism, enforce program policies
