Job summary

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. seeks an IP Specialist Sr to conduct advanced patent and trademark searches, monitor industry trends, and collaborate with the IP attorney to strengthen the portfolio.

You will oversee patent applications and Office Action responses, coordinate with inventors and technical teams, maintain IP processes, and advise the business on strategy and risk, with up to 15% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IP or related fields.
  • Experience with Anaqua and IP Rally preferred; MS Office experience required.

  • Conduct advanced patent and trademark searches, including freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Monitor competitor IP activity and industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with IP attorney to develop strategies for portfolio expansion.
  • Oversee patent applications and Office Action responses with minimal oversight.
  • Coordinate with inventors and technical teams to capture innovations and prepare disclosures.
  • Maintain patent marking websites and ensure legal compliance.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate license agreements and NDAs.
  • Support IP litigation with evidence gathering and technical analysis.
  • Improve internal IP processes and align with company policies.
  • Advise and train business on IP strategy and portfolio development.

Description

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of golf cars, utility and personal transportation vehicles, professional turf-care equipment, and ground support equipment. Textron Specialized Vehicles markets products under several different brands. Its vehicles are found in environments ranging from golf courses to factories, airports to planned communities, and theme parks to hunting preserves.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct advanced patent and trademark searches, including freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses.

  • Monitor competitor intellectual property activity and industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.

  • Collaborate with the IP attorney to develop and execute strategies for expanding and strengthening the IP portfolio.

  • Oversee the patent applications and Office Action responses by outside counsel with minimal oversight.

  • Coordinate with inventors and technical teams to capture innovations and prepare invention disclosures.

  • Maintain patent marking websites and ensure ongoing legal compliance.

  • Review, draft, and negotiate complex license agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other IP-related contracts.

  • Support the IP attorney and outside counsel in intellectual property litigation, including evidence gathering and technical analysis.

  • Implement and continuously improve internal IP processes, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal standards.

  • Advise and train business on IP strategy, risk assessment, IP management database, and portfolio development.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.

Years of Experience: 5 years of experience required.

Software Knowledge: Anaqua and IP Rally (or similar software) experience strongly preferred; Microsoft suite experience required.

Additional Requirements
  • Licensed US Patent Agent Preferred

  • Up to 10-15% of occasional travel—must be able to travel independently.

  • Demonstrated Proficiency in AI-Enhanced Patent Analysis and Prior Art Evaluation
