Job description

Sun IP is a technology-enabled provider of global intellectual property services, supporting law firms and corporate IP teams across filings, translations, renewals, and IP support services. We deliver high-quality patent and trademark solutions through a combination of subject matter expertise, service excellence, and a secure, cloud-based platform.

We are expanding our go-to-market organization to support continued growth across patent and trademark renewals, while building a foundation for broader service offerings including filings, translations, and recordals.

Position Summary

Sun IP is entering a period of meaningful expansion. We are growing our service portfolio, launching new platforms, and scaling our go-to-market organization to capture a market that has long been underserved by our competitors. This role joins at a foundational moment and will shape how Sun IP's services reach the market and grow our market share.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the IP Product Marketing Lead owns positioning, messaging, launches, and market intelligence across Sun IP's portfolio of IP services: patent annuity services, trademark renewal services, filings, translations, and recordals. This person is the connective tissue between Product, Sales, and the market, translating complex IP services into clear, compelling value propositions, and ensuring Sales, content, and GTM campaigns are grounded in a sharp understanding of buyers and competitors.

This role also drives multi-channel marketing strategy across Sun IP's portfolio and reviews and optimizes our established event and conference presence, working closely with the Events Marketing Specialist, who reports separately to the CMO and owns hands-on logistics and execution. The IP Product Marketer defines what Sun IP says and does at each event and how it ties to pipeline. As Sun IP's marketing function grows, this role has real potential to expand into a people‑leadership position across the marketing function.

This is a builder role for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and translating market and buyer insight into multi-channel programs that improve business outcomes. The role works closely with Sales, Product, and Leadership in a lean environment, with significant opportunity to shape both the marketing function and the narrative as Sun IP grows.

Key Responsibilities
Positioning and Messaging
  • Define and own positioning and messaging across Sun IP's services portfolio
  • Translate complex IP services into clear, compelling value propositions for key buyer personas including IP counsel, portfolio managers, CFOs, and in‑house IP teams
  • Create and champion the product user story, articulating the needs of the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and how product features and benefits address those needs
  • Develop a consistent platform and portfolio narrative that bridges Sun IP's heritage in filings and translations with its renewals platform and software‑enabled service strategy
  • Contribute product and messaging expertise to the content engine (case studies, solution briefs, white papers, sales collateral) led by others
  • Participate in thought leadership and industry engagement, particularly tied to events
Product Launch and Go‑to‑Market
  • Lead GTM planning for the renewals platform launch and subsequent feature releases, coordinating across Product, Sales, and Client Experience
  • Plan and execute launches for new services, packages, and pricing changes across the portfolio
  • Partner with demand generation to develop integrated, multi‑channel campaigns that drive awareness and qualified pipeline
  • Own an integrated, multi‑channel marketing strategy, spanning digital, content, email, web, demand generation, and events, that delivers a consistent message across every buyer touchpoint
  • Prioritize channel mix and marketing investment based on buyer behaviour, market insight, and pipeline contribution, adapting as the portfolio and market evolve
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Sales, Product, and Client Experience to align campaigns with revenue goals and translate results into improved business outcomes
  • Provide Sales leadership with product marketing expertise on positioning, messaging, and product inputs to inform enablement, objection‑handling, pitch decks, and demo scripts as needed
  • Support key deals and strategic opportunities with bespoke materials
Market Insights and Business Impact
  • Conduct ongoing research into buyer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape
  • Translate competitive and market insights into recommendations that shape Product and Sales strategy and improve business outcomes
Required Experience
  • 2–5 years of marketing experience, ideally including product and/or event marketing in a B2B setting
  • Intellectual Property industry experience; direct experience selling or marketing patent annuity services, trademark renewal services, IP Management Software, or related IP services highly desired
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to positioning, messaging, or go‑to‑market strategy for a product, service, or platform, ideally in a specialist or technical domain
  • Some experience with B2B event marketing strategy (campaigns, ROI measurement) preferred
  • Track record of building effective cross‑functional relationships with Product and Sales
  • Experience marketing to IP counsel, general counsel, CFOs, or in‑house IP teams is preferred
  • Experience developing educational and enablement content that drives adoption and pipeline is a plus
Core Competencies
  • Strong strategic thinker with solid project management skills and attention to detail, especially under launch and event deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to make complex services clear and compelling
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a builder mindset
  • Data‑driven; tracks what is working and iterates quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑moving, lean environment
Additional Expectations
  • Stay current on IP industry trends, competitor moves, and emerging market dynamics
  • Willingness to travel for select industry events, client meetings, and internal team collaboration
  • No people management is expected in this role today; as the team grows, there is potential for this role to take on management responsibility, including over events marketing
