Job summary

H. T. PROF Group seeks a Patent Agent to join its IP - Patents Practice in a hybrid, multi-location setting.

The candidate will work with inventors and attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications in emerging technologies, including data science and AI-related fields. The role requires a strong technical background with 2+ years of patent experience and excellent writing and communication skills, supporting a top-tier AmLaw 50 firm.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience with data science, machine learning, AI, wireless, sensors or related tech is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications with inventors and attorneys.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate patent scope with USPTO.
• Prepare reports and documentation for patent portfolio management.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management
