Job summary

Top Echelon Software LLC seeks an Intellectual Property Patent Agent to join our Patents Practice on a hybrid basis in New York. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's in EE, CE, CS, or Physics with strong academics and have 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.

The role involves working with inventors and attorneys to draft and prosecute applications in emerging technologies, performing novelty searches, and supporting portfolio management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with excellent academics in a technical field.
• 2+ years of substantive patent prep and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, ML, AI or related tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to differentiate inventions from prior art.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate patent scope with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.

A prominent internationalAmLaw 50law firmis seeking a talented Patent Agentto jointheir Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree orhigher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things,optics, or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills, with an exceptional attention to technical detail and effective organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management
