Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled IP/MPLS Network Engineer to design, implement, and support Techner’s core network infrastructure, including IP/MPLS networks, carrier Ethernet transport systems, and cellular data core systems. This role involves technical leadership, escalation support, and mentorship to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our network. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in routing protocols, transport technologies, and data centre network design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and document network architectures to support business needs.
  • Test and evaluate new technologies and service architectures in lab environments.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for operations teams and act as an escalation point.
  • Prepare and manage engineering estimates and installation packages.
  • Offer technical mentorship to junior engineers and support their skill development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Telecom, Computer Engineering, or a related field, relevant certifications and training are a plus.
  • Expert-level knowledge of network engineering concepts, including high availability, redundancy, and security.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches.
  • Proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP) and transport technologies (Ethernet, SONET, TDM, Microwave, Satellite, Cellular, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge of RSVP, LDP, PIM, and layer-2 Ethernet technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP, MC-LAG).
  • Strong ability to create and edit network drawings using Microsoft Visio.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in project management concepts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of driving network scalability initiatives.
