The role offers visibility to influence IP strategy, support commercial growth, and partner with business and technical stakeholders across the globe. Requires a U.S. JD and patent attorney registration, with 2+ years in patent practice.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Registered U.S. Patent Attorney.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or another technical discipline relevant to semiconductors or high-tech.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and assessing third-party patent assertions, researching technologies, and crafting strategic responses.
  • Driving patent out-licensing initiatives across a global IP portfolio.
  • Participating in patent licensing negotiations and supporting business objectives.
  • Managing communications with third parties on patent licensing and IP programs.
  • Drafting and negotiating patent licenses, trademark licenses, technology agreements, and IP asset transactions.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters.
  • Providing IP support for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
  • Collaborating with legal, engineering, and commercial teams to mitigate IP risks.
  • Managing external counsel and technical experts for licensing, enforcement, and transactions.

Representing a global semiconductor and technology company, we are proud to be leading the search for an IP & Licensing Attorney. This role will focus on patent licensing, intellectual property transactions, patent assertion defense, and strategic legal support across a sophisticated global IP portfolio.


This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to influence IP strategy, support commercial growth, and partner with business and technical stakeholders worldwide.


As the IP & Licensing Attorney, you will be responsible for:


  • Reviewing and assessing third-party patent assertions, investigating relevant technologies and products, and developing legal and strategic responses.

  • Supporting and driving patent out-licensing initiatives across a substantial global intellectual property portfolio.

  • Participating in patent licensing negotiations, presenting legal positions, and supporting the achievement of business objectives.

  • Managing communications with third parties relating to patent licensing and broader IP programs.

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of intellectual property agreements, including patent licenses, trademark licenses, technology agreements, and IP asset transactions.

  • Advising internal stakeholders on complex patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, and related intellectual property matters.

  • Providing IP support for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic business transactions.

  • Collaborating with legal, engineering, and commercial teams to identify and mitigate intellectual property risks.

  • Managing external counsel and technical experts to support licensing, enforcement, and transactional matters.


To be successful in this role our client is looking for a:


  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.

  • Registered U.S. Patent Attorney.

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or another technical discipline relevant to the semiconductor or high-technology sector.

  • 2+ years of experience as a patent attorney supporting technology-focused organizations.

  • Strong understanding of patent licensing, intellectual property transactions, and patent-related legal issues.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Exceptional drafting and written communication abilities.

  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex legal and technical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across legal, technical, and business teams.

  • Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve legal operations and business outcomes.

  • Experience working in global, cross-functional environments and collaborating with international colleagues.

  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-15%, including occasional international travel.
