Job summary

Textron Systems offers an Intellectual Property Intern position in Maryland for a 10-week, paid internship. You’ll assist in invention identification, freedom to operate analysis, IP strategy, competitor monitoring, and reviewing industry patent portfolios under the guidance of engineers and IP professionals.

This role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering, strong communication, and U.S. citizenship to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering or related technical field.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications.
• Requires US Citizen: this position requires a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support IP program including invention identification, freedom to operate analysis, IP strategy, etc
• Support Competitor Monitoring
• Assist engineering resources with reviewing and analyzing industry patent portfolios to manage risk and gain competitive intelligence
• Assist with IP training
• Assist with trademark matters such as knock out searches, marketing material (proper use), gathering specimens for the USPTO etc.
