Job summary

ProPetro Services, Inc. is seeking an IoT Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable IoT data pipelines and platforms that support real-time and batch analytics across field operations.

You will integrate telemetry from edge devices into the enterprise data ecosystem, ensure data quality, and enable long-term improvements to streaming pipelines, data architecture, and analytics readiness while collaborating with Operations, OT, IT, and Analytics teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3 years’ relevant experience in telemetry data pipelines and stream analytics.
  • 3 years’ experience managing mid-to-large projects.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills; ability to solve problems.
  • Good verbal and written communication; ability to interact with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to reach out for help with required skill sets.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable IoT data pipelines across edge-to-cloud paths.
  • Develop applications and scripts for asset health monitoring, anomaly detection, and control logic using AI/ML techniques.
  • Own and version asset and datastream schema; standardize tags and units from OEM docs.
  • Maintain reliability of edge-to-cloud data path with PWR, OT, and SCADA vendors.
  • Implement streaming and batch ingestion for IoT telemetry and events.
  • Support device onboarding, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain dashboards and alerts for IoT health using Grafana and Azure Monitor.
  • Coordinate IoT issue resolution with internal teams and vendors.

Job Summary

The IoT Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable IoT data pipelines and platforms that support real-time and batch analytics across field operations. This role focuses on integrating IoT telemetry from edge devices into the enterprise data ecosystem, ensuring reliability, data quality, and operational visibility as deployments scale. The position works closely with Operations, OT, IT, and Analytics teams to support IoT device onboarding, monitoring, and data ingestion while enabling long-term improvements to streaming pipelines, data architecture, and analytics readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable IoT data pipelines using Azure services such as IoT Hub, Event Hubs, and Azure Data Lake.
  • Develop and maintain applications, services, and scripts for asset health monitoring, anomaly detection, and control logic, applying AI/ML techniques to improve predictive maintenance and operational performance.
  • Own and version the asset and datastream schema, standardizing tag names and engineering units from OEM documentation.
  • Maintain the reliability of the edge-to-cloud data path in coordination with PWR, OT, and SCADA vendors.
  • Implement streaming and batch ingestion patterns for IoT telemetry, alarms, and operational events.
  • Support day-to-day IoT operations, including device onboarding, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain dashboards and alerts for IoT health, telemetry flow, and system reliability using tools such as Grafana and Azure Monitor.
  • Act as a point of contact for IoT operational issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams and vendors.
  • Assist in stabilizing and scaling IoT deployments across multiple crews and locations.
  • Implement data validation, monitoring, and quality checks for IoT telemetry and event streams.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3 years’ relevant experience in telemetry data pipelines and stream analytics
  • 3 years’ experience managing mid-to-large projects
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills, able to problem solve issues and provide effective solutions
  • Experience with Linux, Azure services, Grafana
  • Willing and able to reach out for help with the required skill sets
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively interact with vendors, diverse stakeholders, and personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Personable, possesses strong teamwork and collaboration skills

This person will be working onsite at the Tomball, TX location.
