Alarm.com is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the emPower team to lead architecture and engineering for IoT, smart home automation, and energy management experiences. This IC role spans cloud services, devices, mobile and web apps, and data pipelines, with responsibility for architecture decisions and long‑term maintainability.

Qualifications

15+ years of professional software development experience.
Proven experience designing, building, and delivering complex software systems.
Strong object‑oriented programming skills; C#/.NET required or similar OO language.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture and design for major software components, services, APIs, data flows, and integration patterns.
Provide hands‑on technical leadership across teams.
Mentor engineers and drive design reviews, code reviews, and reusable patterns.
Evolve monolithic systems into modular, scalable, reliable architectures.
Collaborate with product, firmware, platform, operations, and application teams to translate needs into technical direction.
