Job description

The IoT Networking Specialist will collaborate closely with teams in Boston, San Francisco, and Toronto to establish secure network connections for our machines and develop data collection strategies to integrate diverse data types into our Digital Twins in the client's Tandem platform. The role involves interfacing with Network and Security teams to implement IoT, data collection, and storage protocols, as well as sourcing and installing network and data collection hardware. Equipment includes robotics, CNC machines, 3D printers, lasers, and sensors monitoring power, HVAC, occupancy, and other systems.

Experience: Minimum 2 years

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to complete IoT integration deliverables.
  • Communicate with network security engineering teams to understand and implement security protocols.
  • Connect IoT and IIoT sensors to the client's Tandem platform, ensuring seamless data ingestion from devices measuring temperature, sound, vibration, humidity, CO2, etc.
  • Configure and test data streams using Tandem Connect, MTConnect, OPC UA, and other integrations to enable data flow into digital twins.
  • Document processes and create user-friendly guides and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues between IoT devices and the client's Tandem platform.
  • Propose new features and solutions to enhance scalability and usability of digital twins.

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of network protocols and security principles (TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT, MTConnect, etc.).
  • Experience with IoT programming environments (Node-RED, Arduino, etc.).
  • Proficiency with REST APIs and cURL.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub.
  • Experience with sensor hardware and IoT device integration in smart building and factory environments.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly and adapt.
  • Comfort working virtually with dispersed teams via Slack, email, Zoom, etc. (onsite position with remote collaboration across geographies).
