Job summary

Current Lighting is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join our Round Rock, TX team. This role focuses on designing and validating hardware for embedded IoT lighting and controls, collaborating with product, firmware, and software teams, and supporting the full hardware lifecycle from concept to field deployment.

The position is on-site in Round Rock with no sponsorship or relocation offered at this time. A strong background in analog/digital hardware and embedded C/C++ is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or closely related).
• 1+ years of analog and digital hardware development experience.
• 1+ years PCB layout and schematic capture tools experience (Altium).
• 1+ years of embedded hardware development for embedded systems incl. analog/digital components.
• Hands-on knowledge of Ethernet, I2C, RS232, RS485, SPI topologies.
• 1+ years lab equipment experience (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
• 1+ years embedded firmware in C/C++.
• 1+ year experience with Git and firmware debugging tools.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design of high-performing hardware for embedded systems using MCUs, sensors, and interfaces.
• Design and develop PCBs and create schematics and layouts.
• Assist in debugging during development and field operation.
• Investigate field returns and customer issues.
• Support regulatory certifications (UL, FCC).
• Assist in product releases to manufacturing and field deployment.
• Support hardware validation testing and reliability efforts.
• Develop and maintain basic embedded firmware for MCU-based products.
• Support board bring-up and firmware–hardware interactions.
