About the Job:

The Therapist IV is part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for providing direct clinical services to clients and their families. This includes diagnosing and treating mental and emotional disorders, completing psychosocial assessments, providing individual, group, and family therapy, facilitating psycho-educational training, family meetings, discharge planning, assisting in program development, developing and reviewing treatment plans, and linking clients to outside resources.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop initial discharge plans.
  2. Develop and implement treatment plans based on assessments, coordinating additional services as needed and revising plans as necessary.
  3. Conduct individual, group, or family therapy sessions according to the treatment plan.
  4. Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions to treat diagnosed emotional and behavioral disorders.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences, present client information, and recommend treatment interventions.
  6. Maintain a caseload as assigned.
  7. Develop and implement special client groups or program modules.
  8. Prepare progress notes and treatment updates timely, maintaining all clinical documentation per standards.
  9. Ensure each client has a structured post-care plan and act as a liaison to referral sources for continuation of care.
  10. Provide crisis intervention to clients and families in distress.
  11. Introduce and coordinate community resources such as financial, housing, legal, social, recreational, occupational, and spiritual support groups.
  12. Provide case management, discharge planning, or after-care planning as per treatment plan.
  13. Assist in staff training on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention.
  14. Coordinate clinical and psychosocial activities with clients and families.
  15. Evaluate client needs and determine referrals to other programs or facilities.
  16. Assist in training new clinical staff and interns.
  17. Coordinate activities of clinical staff, providing guidance and direction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology.
  • At least six years of experience as a therapist, with four or more years working with the specific population served by the facility.
