Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an experienced Intraoperative Monitoring Specialist (CNIM) to perform multi-modality IONM for complex procedures, including cortical mapping, phase reversal, dorsal rhizotomies and DBS. The role requires prior CNIM certification and a minimum of three years of IONM experience.

The position involves taking call, irregular hours, rotating shifts, and weekends, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and accurate neurophysiologic data interpretation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science or an associate’s degree with one or more neurodiagnostic registries (R. EEG, R. EP, R. NCS) or completion of an END program that is CAAHEP accredited.
  • CNIM certification is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in intraoperative monitoring with multi-modality IONM procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-modality complex intraoperative monitoring for advanced IONM procedures including cortical mapping, phase reversal, dorsal rhizotomies and DBS.
  • Take call and work irregular hours, rotating shifts and weekends.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy; implement detailed instructions; observe patients accurately.
  • Maintain BLS certification and comply with hospital policies.

Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
